Lately I've been noticing a lack of Jimi Hendrix being played on WZLX, what's the deal? This is my favorite station...and I've been going through entire days at work without hearing a single Hendrix song! Would love to hear some more next week! Thanks.
Also as a suggestion some other songs to play, that MANY people would like are "Who Knows" and "Them Changes"...anything from the Band of Gypsys album.
Thanks...

Dude, I love me some Hendrix too, and the Band of Gypsys album is redonkuously good. I'll put a note in with our music guys to see what we can do, but we're still playing Jimi at least 4-5 times a week on our show alone, you just might not be catching it at the right time. But I'll ask for more, you can never have too much Hendrix!

Amen Big Head! I noticed a drop in Hendrix airplay as well, glad to see the situation has been rectified. Give me "Little Wing" anyday over Peter Frampton! You guys certainly have got the best format for classic rock(The local classic rock station in my neck of the woods which shall remain nameless plays too much Metallica and Nirvana, God! I hate getting old!)!

Wow, Metallica and Nirvana? That's not classic rock. Classic Metal and Classic Grunge, respectively.
But I have been thinking about who ZLX SHOULD pick up next, for a band, as the years go on. We play U2, obviously, and they're one of our "newer" bands; seeing how they came out in the early 80's and all. Petty, the Black Crowes on occasion, even GNR; they all get airplay too. I love me some Nirvana (Metallica, not so much...) but for me, I think the next band we pick up and welcome into the Classic Rock genre should be Pearl Jam.
Hear me out.
They SOUND like a rock band, Vedder can sing, and while "Jeremy" and "Black" are great songs, they're a little heavy and dark. I'd start off with some of the lighter, un-grungy stuff (Like "Daughter" or "Evenflow") and see how it goes. If there was a listener revolt, I'm sure we'd pull it. The last ones we want to piss off would be the longtime listeners that have been with us since the jump. But if I had to argue for any band that deserves to be in the Classic Rock category, it would be PJ.
But what do you think? Who should be the next artist we welcome into Classic Rock?
